Welcome to Springhill
Dear Springhill Families,
Greetings and welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! We hope you’re all enjoying a relaxing and fun-filled summer break. While there’s still a bit of summer left, this letter provides helpful information to begin planning and preparing for the exciting year ahead.
A new school year always brings energy and anticipation. While students and teachers have been away, our team has stayed busy planning events, preparing classrooms, and checking items off our “To Do” list to ensure a strong start to the year.
Farewells & New Beginnings
In May, we said goodbye to some valued and respected staff members who are moving on to new adventures—whether through retirement, changing schools, or exploring new opportunities. We are grateful for the impact they made at Springhill and wish them all the best.

- Alison Nelson, Speech-Language Pathologist – New opportunities
- Gabi Rothman, Speech-Language Pathologist – Changing schools
- Chianna Hoessini, Occupational Therapist – Changing schools
Though goodbyes are never easy, they open the door for new energy and fresh perspectives. We’re excited to welcome several new staff members to the Springhill family.
New Staff Joining Springhill:
- Jenna Caldwell – 4th Grade
- Rachel Pierce – SDC Teacher
- Ashley Ward – IST
- Melinda Weilage – Occupational Therapist

Summer at Springhill
Our campus has stayed lively this summer as we proudly hosted the district’s Extended School Year (ESY) program, keeping classrooms filled with students and staff. During June, we also proudly flew the Pride flag in support of the LGBTQ+ community, affirming our commitment to inclusion and belonging.
Behind the scenes, our amazing custodial team—Francis, David, and Vanessa—along with the district maintenance and grounds crew, have been hard at work making sure our campus sparkles. A special shout-out to them for all they do! We’re also thrilled to share that a brand-new play structure will be installed on the TK playground soon.
Parent Faculty Club (PFC) & Community Involvement
This year, the Springhill PFC will be co-led by Irene Lee and Lulu Sun. They’re already hard at work planning community-building events and activities. One important upcoming event is Scorpion Day, happening Monday, August 11, where families can complete registration paperwork, sign up to volunteer, purchase spirit wear, and connect with friends. Please watch for more details coming soon!
Our Commitment
As always, we are grateful for our continued partnership with the Lafayette School District, the Springhill PFC, and Lafayette Partners in Education (LPIE). Together, we remain dedicated to building a professional learning community where students, teachers, staff, and parents are supported in achieving, succeeding, and growing.
At Springhill, we’re committed to offering a rigorous and comprehensive academic program, supported by systems that meet the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs of our students.
We can’t wait to see everyone in August and to welcome our new families to the Springhill community!
Warmly,
Mette Thallaug & Natalie Kassel
