Welcome to Fourth Grade
Greetings and welcome to Room 13, marking the beginning of the 2023-2024 academic term! I am embarking on my 26th year as a dedicated member of the Springhill Elementary community. Over the years, I have had the privilege of instructing students across the second, third, fourth, and fifth grade levels. My husband, Randy, and I crossed paths during our time at Acalanes, and our journey together has spanned 28 wonderful years of marriage. Our two sons, Nathan and Ian, bring immense joy to our lives. The cohesive 4th grade team here at Springhill School is truly remarkable! Anticipation fills me as I eagerly await the unfolding of yet another splendid year ahead.

Welcome to Room 21 and the 2023-2024 school year! This is my 24th year teaching at Springhill and my 17th year in 4th grade. I live in Walnut Creek with my husband, Jeff. We moved here from Boston and are both originally from upstate New York. We have a son, Andrew, who lives in southern California with his wife and two year old daughter. I’m looking forward to a great school year!
Hello! My name is Debbie Deitch and I teach 4th grade here at Springhill Elementary. I have wanted to be a teacher since I was in 2nd grade back in Gaithersburg, Maryland. I believe that just about every moment is a moment when one can be learning. There is a joy in learning that I strive to convey to my students in my classroom. Every subject is my favorite and I particularly enjoy introducing students to great books and the beauty of mathematics. Most of all, I hope to help my students in learning to think and thinking to learn. Aside from teaching (and thinking and learning), nothing brings me more joy than being with my children and grandchildren. If I am not doing either of those, I am reading or playing games involving words, math, or trivia. I am looking forward to this year and the possibilities that lie ahead.
